A DENBIGHSHIRE mayor will hold a concert later this month to raise funds for charities and good causes.

On September 14, Denbigh Mayor Cllr Gaynor Wood-Tickle is holding a concert at Denbigh Town Hall to raise funds for her charities, which are the Samaritans, Brake and Cynnig.

"I’m hoping that the concert will be a great success to raise funds for these very worthwhile charities and causes," stated Cllr Wood-Tickle.

The artists of the evening will be the renowned male voice choir Cor Godre’r Aran, under the musical direction of Eirian Owen.

The choir is based in Llanuwchllyn and since its inception, it has regularly entertained audiences at many principal venues, including the Royal Albert Hall, the Globe Theatre, the Sage and Birmingham Symphony Hall.

Concert tours have taken the choir to Scotland, Ireland and Portugal, with extended international tours including three visits to Canada / USA., and eight tours of Australia.

Over the years, Côr Godre’r Aran has successfully competed at national and international level, winning principal awards at the National Eisteddfod and four male voice championships at the International Eisteddfod in Llangollen.

Erfyl Tomos Jones, Arfon Griffiths, Sion Eilir and Ellis Jones will be soloists and the concert will be compered by Dilwyn Pierce.

Cllr Wood-Tickle added: "It's an honour and a privilege to be mayor and the support I have received so far has been immense.

"I’m hoping that the concert will continue to add to Denbigh’s great sense of community spirit. We are very happy to be welcoming Cor Godre'r Aran back to Denbigh for what will surely be a great night of entertainment."

Alternatively, they will be available on the door on the night of the concert, and they are £10 each.

The concert starts at 7.30pm on September 14, with doors opening at 7pm.
