TICKETS are selling fast to catch an edgier take on everyone's favourite rag to riches story on stage.
Prestatyn Youth Theatre has already sold out the Saturday show of it's production of Annie, which appears at Denbigh''s Theatre Twm o'r Nant for three nights from Thursday, July 25 at 7.30pm.
While the story of the plucky redhead - played by Evie Clubley from Prestatyn - surely needs no introduction, this production will explore in greater depth the experience of Mrs Hannigan's orphans presenting a fresh take that is nevertheless punctuated with all the usual songs you might expect.
The orphans show their dismay at their situation and Annie is depicted as a child who has been abandoned in poverty and abused by her subsequent carers.
Co-directors Stuart and Vania Tong's vision will convey the timely message that musical theatre is not always a fairy tale but can, sadly, mirror real life.
Mr Tong said: "This production has a message that children are the outcome of their experiences and that during time Tomorrow.
“This is not to say that this production will be all doom and gloom; we want to entertain our audience, but we also want to make them think. We last did this production seven years ago at The Scala in Prestatyn, and it’s a very different show to what we’ve produced before.”
Tickets are £10, to book call the box office on 07368323456.
Anyone interested in joining Prestatyn Youth Theatre can do so in September, for more information visit p-y-t.co.uk.
