RUTHIN AllStyles Folk and Acoustic Music keeps going from strength to strength.

The their regular Thursday singers’ nights attract performers from all points of the compass, including Wrexham, Chester, the North Wales coast and the Wirral.

Most weeks, there are upwards of a dozen musicians and anything from 25 to 45 audience enjoying the ambience of the function room of the Feathers Inn, in Ruthin.

It’s a lovely “sit and listen” event with the music never too loud and all are welcome to join them.

People are advised to arrive by 8pm to get their name down for a floor spot.

It’s a great evening’s entertainment with everything from folk, country and R&B, to Americana, roots and the Beatles, plus corny gags from the MC – and all for the princely sum of £1.50.

Every few weeks, the club holds a concert.

The next one of these is to take place on May 2 courtesy of a double-header with Wirral musicians Phil Chisnall and John Williams.

John is well-known to the Ruthin AllStyles regulars, as he frequently makes the journey from the Wirral to join in for a floor spot on the singers’ nights with his trusty David Oddy Cellomandolin.

An accomplished singer-songwriter, John has been making a name for himself on the folk and acoustic music scene, and he has featured in several festivals over the last couple of years, including Folk on the Farm and the 2018 Great British Folk Festival at Butlins Resort Skegness last November.

Phil Chisnall performs a diverse set of well-known covers, from folk to blues to country, as well as his own highly acclaimed songs.

They will be performing individually and together to provide a relaxed and entertaining evening, with some light-hearted banter thrown into the mix.
