AN EPIC new theatre adaptation will chart a course from Jamaica to Britain - via the Second World War - in Rhyl, Prestatyn and Colwyn Bay this summer.

Andrea Levy's Orange Prize-winning novel Small Island comes to life in an epic new theatre adaptation screening live to the Vue, the Scala and Theatr Colwyn on Thursday, June 27 at 7pm.

As part of National Theatre Live's 10th birthday, a company of 40 actors take to the stage in this timely and moving story that takes the audience through the Second World War to 1948 - the year the HMT Empire Windrush docked at Tilbury.

The play follows three intricately connected stories. Hortense yearns for a new life away from rural Jamaica, Gilbert dreams of becoming a lawyer, and Queenie longs to escape her Lincolnshire roots.

Tickets for the Vue are £19.74, available from myvue.com, £15 for the Scala available from merlinprestatyn.admit-one.eu and £12.50 for Theatr Colwyn, available from theatrcolwyn.co.uk.
