AN AWARD winning choir will warm up its vocal chords for a starring role in the Six Nations with a stop in Rhyl.

The Sirenian Singers will be at Rhyl Town Hall as part of Rhyl Music Club's of the International Concert Series 2018/19 on Wednesday February 6 - one day before jetting out to Rome to sing the Welsh National Anthem at the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday 9.

The Wrexham based Sirenian Singers, who were the first Welsh mixed choir to win the "Choir of the World" trophy in Llangollen, were invited to perform at Wales second fixture of the tournament as a result of the choir's successful mini-tour of the Italian capital and the Vatican last year.

Outside of the 'eternal city', the 50 strong choir - founded in 1990 by the celebrated conductor, Jean Stanley Jones - has received international recognition on the competitive and concert platforms for their unique sound, excellent technique and breadth of repertoire.

As both a warm up and a send off to the event the Wrexham based choir will be giving a concert with Musical Director Jean Stanley Jones, to sing their latest mostly a cappella repertoire.
