THE 40th birthday of Britain's most famous Snowman will be celebrated in Rhyl next month.

To mark the 40th anniversary of the classic Raymond Briggs picture book, The Snowman, the enchanted Oscar-nominated animation will be brought back to Vue Rhyl on Saturday, December 8 and December 9 at 11am.

An intergenerational seasonal stalwart, The Snowman finds a young boy on a cold winter's day as he builds a snowman who comes to life at the stroke of midnight.

He and the boy play with appliances, toys and other bric-a-brac in the house, all while keeping quiet enough not to wake the boy's parents before taking off on a mesmerising and magical adventure to the haunting song that launched Aled Jones' career, Walking in the Air.

In each double-bill screening, the short film will be shown back-to-back with its 2012 sequel, The Snowman and the Snowdog.

Tickets are £4.74, available from myvue.com.
