LLANRUG United have moved quickly to replace Mark Jat by naming long-serving player David Noel Williams as their new manager.

The departing boss guided his side to a third placed finish in Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One, but other commitments ensured Jat could not give his role his full attention going forward.

Affectionately known as Charlie, Noel Williams joined the club in August 2006 after spell with Caernarfon Town, Porthmadog, Glantraeth, Llangefni Town Bethesda Athletic.

He has made a total of 413 appearances in 12 seasons, scoring an incredible 165 goals from the midfield position and winning no fewer than 36 player of the match awards.

Noel Williams, said: “I am delighted and very proud to have the opportunity to be manager of Llanrug United. I have a lot of friends at the club, they are a truly friendly and superb club.

“The club officials and the supporters have been excellent to me for many seasons I owe them a lot and I have truly enjoyed every minute at the club. We have a few exciting youngsters in our squad and I look forward to the new season.”

Chairman Emyr Pritchard, said: “‘I am sad to lose Mark, but we understand and respect his wishes. Thanks for the hard work and the memories and most of all the many laughs.

“I am as everybody else as at Llanrug United delighted that Charlie has agreed to be our manager.

“He has been a very valuable asset as a player for the Club for a long period and is a very highly respected individual within the game. He will be a tremendous asset as a manger.”
