CONWY Borough striker Corrig Mconigle has picked up a coveted award after another outstanding season in front of goal.

The striker was at his ruthless best for the entirety of the Tangerines’ Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One title-winning season, which sees Gareth Thomas’ men return to the Huws Gray Alliance after a one-season stay in the third tier.

His exploits also contributed significantly to their Lock Stock Cookson Cup and FAW Trophy victories for a memorable treble, and his efforts have been recognised with the Division One Golden Bot Award.

McGonigle hit a total of 43 goals from his 28 league games, which included 37 from open play and six from the penalty spot, finish 13 ahead of Greenfield’s Sam Jones and 21 in-front of Llandudno Albion forward David Maddock.

This is the second year in succession that the former Bangor City Academy prospect has scooped the honour after netting 41 times for Glantraeth during their 2017 championship triumph.

Over the last three seasons, McGonigle has scored an astonishing 115 league goals from Conwy Borough, Glantraeth and Pentraeth, and he is now set to finally get a prolonged run at the second tier with Thomas’ men.
