GLAN Conwy finally relinquished top spot in Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division Two after a 1-0 loss at Amlwch Town.

The long-time leaders’ hopes of claiming the crown were dealt a fatal blow with only their sixth defeat in 27 league games, and they are now one point behind title favourites Prestatyn Sports having played a game more.

The visitors wasted a host of opportunities throughout the contest as they went in search of crucial three points, and they were denied a share of the spoils after the break when Josh Griffiths netted a dramatic late winner on 89 minutes to condemn them to defeat.

Mochdre Sports’ concerning run of recent results continued as they were downed 1-0 at Gaerwen.

The struggling side fell behind on 37 minutes when Paul Bryant fired home the only goal of the game, which means Sports are now just one point above the bottom two heading into their closing fixtures.

One positive for the club is that they do have three games in hand on Llanfairpwll and Llannerchymedd, who occupy the bottom two places.
