BODEDERN Athletic continued their pursuit of the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division Two title with a 3-1 victory over Gaerwen.

The promotion hopefuls moved to within five points of Prestatyn Sports with a game in hand following their seventh success in ten games on their travels, and they are just seven off leaders Glan Conwy with five to spare.

Prolific striker Stephen Whittaker looked lively early on and he was rewarded on the half hour mark when he opened the scoring with a neat finish after an impressive passing move.

Things got even better for the visitors soon after when Danial Owen doubled their advantage just before the break, but a nervy end to proceedings was assured after the break when Dylan Williams halved the deficit from the penalty spot on 80 minutes.

Athletic responded well to the setback and sealed another three points shortly after, and this time it was Jordan Taylor on hand to find the target for the home side on 84 minutes to round off the scoring.

It promises to be another gruelling week of action for the championship contenders, who host Aberffraw on Thursday and travel to Bleanau Amateurs on Saturday.
