CONWY Borough’s hopes of securing the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One title suffered a blow with a 2-1 loss at Nantlle Vale.

The home side got off to a strong start and went ahead on 15 minutes when Aaron Griffiths found the target, and they managed to extend their lead after the break courtesy of a well-taken effort from Aaron Thomas.

Corrig McGonigle got the away side back into the game late on when he converted from the penalty spot on 88 minutes, but it was not enough to prevent a rare defeat on their travels.

Championship rivals Llandudno Albion took full advantage of their slip-up with an impressive 4-2 triumph at Llandyrnog United.

Despite the end result it was the hosts who opened the scoring through the in-form Mark Roberts on two minutes, but Paul Cheung’s side responded well to the setback and went into the break ahead thanks to a pair of quick-fire efforts from Conor Davies and Daniel Evans.

Davies notched his second of the afternoon on 78 minutes to double their tally, with Dave Maddock sealing the points on 82, although Roberts made things nervy towards the end with his brace a minute from time.

Division Two leaders Glan Conwy suffered another blow to their promotion hopes as they were held 2-2 at Blaenau Amt.

Charley Jones got the visitors off to the best possible start on five minutes, before Kieron Ellis levelled matters after the break on 57.

Glan got their noses in front again in 61 minutes when Ashley Boyle finished well, but they had to settle for a share of the spoils as Sion Roberts struck on 74 to equalise.

Penmaenmawr Phoenix ended a run of poor results with a 2-2 draw at Pentraeth, with Haydn Griffiths and Aaron Keating finding the net.
