CONWY Borough advanced to the Lock Stock Cookson Cup final with a last-gasp 2-1 victory over rivals Llandudno Albion.

The Tangerines came from a goal down to book their place in the showcase as they continue their pursuit of multiple silverware from their outstanding campaign to date.

Despite the eventual result, it was the visitors who started the brighter and went ahead after just 13 minutes when the in-form Daniel Evans continued his rich goalscoring run with another well-taken finish.

Gareth Thomas’ side regrouped at the interval and came out after the break with a renewed sense of purpose, and they got back on level terms after 65 minutes when Boro’ were awarded a penalty which hotshot Corrig McGonigle duly converted.

With the game heading for extra-time, the hosts managed to claim a late winner on 89 minutes when Sion Hogan headed into the net to see them progress to the final against Barmouth and Dyffryn United.

Thomas’ men currently lead the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One standings, while also securing Cookson Cup and FAW Trophy final berths.

The Magpies are also on course for two finals after advancing in the Mawddach Challenge Cup thanks to a dramatic penalty shootout home success over Llanrug United.

Dave Harding got the hosts off to a flyer on seven minutes, before an own goal levelled the tie on 22.

The away side thought they had found a winner on 81 minutes when Allan Mark Owen hit the target, but a last-minute effort from Shane Jones sent the game into extra-time.

With nothing separating the two side in the additional 30 minutes, the home side managed to come through the shootout successfully by a 4-3 scoreline.
