PRESTATYN Sports advanced to the Mawddach Cup third round with a 6-2 extra-time victory over Nantlle Vale.

The Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division Two title hopefuls fell behind on 19 minutes when Dan Evans struck for the visitors, but Mark Hughes men managed to get back on level terms through James Harper on 39.

Miles Jones gave them the advantage on the stroke of half-time, but after the break saw Vale send the game into an additional 30 minutes when Liam Robinson found the target on 80.

The home side took complete control during extra-time and regained their lead on 101 minutes when debutant Diego Alvarado marked his debut with a goal, and the striker was on hand to double their advantage on 112 to put them further in the ascendancy.

A path to the next stage of the competition was sealed in the closing stages, with Jack McDougall and Ian Griffiths putting the exclamation point on proceedings on 117 and 119 minutes.

Also through to the next round are St Asaph City, who maintained their perfect start to the year with w 2-1 home success over Pwllheli.

Simon Fawcett got the Saints off to a flyer on five minutes, and Sion Davies hit their crucial second after the interval on 80 to seal the triumph.

Division Two side Meliden returned to league action with an eye-catching 3-1 victory over Penmaenmawr Phoenix.

An outstanding performance from the prolific Matthew Griffiths was enough to separate the two sides, with the talented forward firing home a treble to give the visitors’ three points.
