BANGOR returned to WRU National League Division Two North action with a 36-19 home loss to Wrexham.

The away side started brightly and went ahead early on when centre Nick Dodd produced a blistering turn of pace to touch down, with James Price firing over the conversion.

This was met by a positive response from the hosts, who got back into the contest soon after when Gwyn Roberts darted over for an unconverted score, but their momentum was halted following the restart courtesy of the away side being awarded a controversial penalty try.

Another sweeping attacking move saw the hosts go over again when Tom Belt crossed the white wash after good work from Calvin Williams, with Nick Dundee firing over the extras.

The impressive Dodd darted over the line once again restored Wrexham’s cushion, but the Citizens ensured a nervy end to proceedings when Declan Jones’ quick thinking from a penalty secured another try, which was converted by former RGC and Rydal Penrhos Academy prospect Dundee.

This joy proved to be short-lived as Dodd rounded off a superb individual performance with his hat-trick, and Price also touched down from close range for his second of the afternoon for the visitors to secure their victory.
