LLANGEFNI held on to secure a narrow 17-15 cup win at fierce rivals Caernarfon.

The WRU National League Division One North rivals produced another memorable encounter in freezing conditions, with Aled Jones missing the chance to claim victory for the Cofis when his last-gasp penalty fell short.

Jones got the home side off to a good start through a free-kick on 24 minutes after fierce Cefni pressure in the early stages, but the hosts managed to notch the first try of the contest soon after when centre Aron Evans produced a fine run from 15 metres out to touch down.

The home side increased their advantage after the break when good work from Dion Oliver and Will Brown resulted in a penalty try, and things got even better shortly after the restart when Evans and Geth Andrews combined for another unconverted score from close range.

The Cofis were undeterred by the setback and ensured a nervy end to proceedings with two tries in quick succession in the closing stages, one of which was converted.

After earning a penalty with the last phase of the game, Jones fluffed his lines from long range to ensure the visitors came away with the spoils.
