HOLYHEAD claimed derby day bragging rights with a 12-7 victory at Menai Bridge.

The WRU National League Division Three North clash lived up to expectations and a large crowd enjoyed a hugely physical contest.

The league leaders started the game in impressive form and they were rewarded when full-back Ben Jordan conjured up a fine individual run to cross the white wash.

Bridge played their way into the game through their forwards, but despite a number of attacking incursions the home side's defence held firm in the face of intense pressure.

After the interval saw the visitors gain a foothold in the game and they managed to surge over the line for a try which was converted by Dion McGrath to put them ahead.

Two long range penalties from McGrath just missed their mark and with time ticking away Holyhead's Paddy Maguire managed to maintain their perfect home record intact with some quick thinking to go over from five metres.

Jordan despatched the conversion to pull them further clear, and they managed to see out the remainder of the contest in comfortable fashion to maintain their two point cushion over Nant Conwy Seconds, who have a game in hand on the Harbourmen.
