A LATE goal saw Bangor City men's hockey team go down to a 1-0 loss away to Deeside Ramblers 5s on Saturday.

The loss, combined with a 2-1 win for relegation rivals Alderley Edge 5s, sees Bangor fall to 11th, in the relegation zone, with three games remaining.

Bangor had the better of a well-contested first half, with Jack Brookes and Tom Hughes having shots saved by the home keeper.

The hosts hardly troubled keeper Keith Proudlove, as the City backline made several crucial tackles.

Bangor continued to prove a threat in the second period, with Dave Paterson and Brookes forcing the goalkeeper further action, but unable to find the net.

The Ramblers improved as the game wore on though, and Proudlove made some superb stops to keep the home side at bay.

But with 13 minutes remaining, a forceful delivery into the Bangor 'D' was diverted in at the back post to hand Deeside the lead.

City upped the tempo again in the final 10 minutes, with Arwyn Hughes having a couple of short corners palmed away by the Ramblers glovesman, but they could not find the all-important leveller.

They return to action at home to title-chasing Sandbach next Saturday, pushback 2.15pm.
