A SCHOOL on Anglesey is set to play host to a national table tennis competition next month.

Amlwch's Ysgol Syr Thomas Jones will welcome competitors to their Seniors Table Tennis Team Championship of Wales event on both Saturday and Sunday, February 3 and 4.

This will be the first time Anglesey has hosted the event & it has been organised by the Amlwch table Tennis Club in association with the school.

Teams from Cardiff, Carmarthen, Newport, Swansea, Trehafod & The Valleys will be taking part and the Amlwch Club will have two teams competing as Ynys Mon.

The club has established itself as one of the major ones in Wales, having won the event four times in the past eight years.

They also have three teams competing in the Llandudno & District League and have an impressive record of having won the League title every year for the past decade.

In the first weekend of the Team Championship of Wales held in Cardiff during November, the two Ynys Mon teams finished in good positions, claiming second spot in both the first and second Divisions.

The Club itself is open each Tuesday & Thursday evening from 7pm until 9pm for anyone looking to join in with the sport.

The Senior Table Tennis Team Championship of Wales competition will commence at the school for 10.30am on both days and spectators are welcome to watch (for free!).
