HOLYHEAD Town ended a memorable campaign with a double after securing the Meditel Cup thanks to a 3-1 victory over Bro Goronwy.

The Gwynedd League champions produced a sensational first half display which was the catalyst behind their success, ensuring they got their hands on another piece of silverware to further outline their dominance throughout the region this term.

The Harbourmen made a strong start to the showcase and were awarded a penalty on six minutes, and the prolific Asa Thomas produced a confident finish from the spot to put them ahead.

This was swiftly followed by another midway through the half, and this time it was Sion Davies who was the beneficiary of some neat approach play to double their advantage after 23 minutes.

Town all-but sealed the win just after the half hour mark as Ryan Lees converted another opportunity from close range on 33 minutes after a period of sustained pressure and a series of defensive errors.

Credit to Bro, they kept plugging away and found a way back into the contest a minute before the interval when Jac Thomas expertly rounded the keeper to chip into an empty net.

After the interval saw Thomas and Jordie Murphy both go close for Town in the opening exchanges, while at the other end Liam Griffiths spurned a good opportunity to reduce the arrears.

Bro pressed hard throughout the period in the hope of salvaging the tie, but their approach play lacked a cutting edge in the final third, with Chris Byast and Chris Dewitt both shown a red card in the closing stages following a scuffle as Holyhead saw out the game with minimal fuss to acquire their second trophy of the season.
