BRO Goronwy came from behind to clinch Bob Owen Memorial Shield final glory thanks to a 3-1 victory over Nefyn United.

The Gwynedd League runners-up recovered from a difficult start to turn in a scintillating second half display that was the catalyst behind their success, ensuring they have some silverware to show from a very memorable and consistent campaign.

The final, which was played at the home of JD Welsh Premier League side Caernarfon Town, brought little in the way of chances early on but United got their noses in front on 25 minutes when Trystan Parry’s effort found its way into the corner to break the deadlock.

After the break saw a completely different pattern to the game emerge, and Bro got back on level terms immediately following the restart when Taylor Jones fired home after 46 minutes.

This was swiftly followed by another neat attacking move on 58 minutes that presented a chance to Jac Thomas, who made no mistake when given an opportunity.

Now fully in the ascendancy, Bro doubled their tally after a period of sustained pressure after 67 minutes when Thomas popped up yet again to bag his brace in emphatic fashion.

United threw everything forward in the hopes of getting back into the tie late on, but the Bro rearguard held firm to claim the trophy.
