LLANYSTUMDWY boosted their chances of a top three Gwynedd League finish after a convincing 3-0 win at rivals Bontnewydd.

A cagey opening to proceedings brought little in the way of goalmouth activity in the first peiod, but the away side came out with a renewed sense of purpose after the break and went ahead on 57 minutes when a neat passage of play resulted in Kyle Williams finishing well.

This seemed to spur them on to a much-improved effort going forward, and they were rewarded for their improved play after 68 minutes when Joe Soar struck to double their advantage.

The points were sealed late on when Sion Parry rounded off the scoring for the visitors five minutes from time, and the result sees Llan move one point above their opponents with two league games remaining.

Gwalchmai also remain in the hunt for a top three berth thanks to a resounding 4-1 home triumph over Menai Bridge Tigers.

The prolific Marc Griffiths got them off to a flyer with a well-taken effort on 28 minutes, and things got even better after the interval when Arron Lewis doubled their tally five minutes following the restart.

Griffith notched his second of the afternoon on 52 minutes to treble their advantage, but the away side kept plugging away and got back into the contest on the hour mark through Tom Parry.

The hosts had to withstand heavy pressure at times as the Tigers threw caution to the wind, but they were undone by a swift counter attack on 89 minutes that resulted in Griffith completing his hat-trick.
