HOLYHEAD Town are champions of the Gwynedd League after a resounding 4-1 win at Talysarn Celts.

The Harbourmen have enjoyed a memorable campaign which has resulted in some silverware and promotion, and the prolific Asa Thomas got the visitors off the mark with a trademark neat finish after 16 minutes.

A nervy period of the contest followed, but the visitors held firm and doubled their tally after the break on 67 minutes, and Thomas was on hand once again to convert an opportunity.

Another period of pressure from the away side brought a third after 79 minutes when Sion Davies got in on the act to all-but seal the title, and the unstoppable Thomas rounded off another sensational individual display with his hat-trick on 84.

Celt Owen’s consolation two minutes from time failed to take the gloss off a superb performance under pressure from Town, who can now begin preparing for a tilt at the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance next term.

Bro Goronwy had to settle for second spot and came away from their clash at Llanystumdwy with a 5-2 success.

Two goals just before the break from Caryn Williams and Taylor Jones put the visitors in the ascendancy, before Sion Parry reduced the arrears on the hour mark.

A quick-fire brace from Jac Thomas sealed another three points for the runners-up on 72 and 81 minutes, and Chris Byast put the exclamation point on proceedings in stoppage time.

Nefyn United concluded their fixtures with a 2-2 home draw with Llangoed and District.

Danny Roberts got the hosts off to a flyer on 15 minutes with a fine finish, before Llan levelled matters on 20 courtesy of a Jay Finter effort.

United looked to have claimed a victory when Meical Williams converted after 55 minutes, but the visitors secured a share of the spoils on 63 when a neat passage of play saw Llion Roberts hit the target.
