THE FINAL of the Bwlch Car Boot Trophy was decided this weekend as Caergybi and Arriva Bangor claimed victories in the penultimate rounds of the competition.

On Saturday afternoon, the two sides, both of whom are enjoying fantastic debut seasons in the Anglesey League, progressed to the cup final.

Caergybi beat local rivals Valley Athletic 7-4 after extra time.

Valley were first to score after only two minute via Mike Williams. Prolific Caergybi forward Gary Jo Owen netted his side's equaliser on 45 mins.

Five minutes later, Dewi Thomas stepped up to take a free kick to give the home side a 2-1 lead. Owen then scored two more to put Cybi 4-1 up.

However, the tie was far from over as three goals in the final 15 minutes from Mike Williams (2) and Paul Williams sent the tie to extra time.

Owen put the home side into the lead again on 96 minutes, before Thomas launched a long range shot from the half way line into the top scorer. The end-to-end match was rounded off when Owen netted his fifth goal late on.

Elsewhere, Arriva Bangor also booked their place in the final with an impressive 5-4 victory at high-flying Bryngwran Bulls.

Goals from Josh Royds (2), Mathew Williams, Daniel Ogwen Jones and Kieron Davies gave Kevin Jones' side a memorable win, having initially been 3-1 down.

Goalscorers for The Bulls were Nathan Lewis (2), Tony Meyer and John Earnshaw.

The Bwlch Car Boot Trophy final between Arriva and Cybi is set to take place on Friday, May 25 (7pm ko) at Lon Talwrn, Llangefni.

In Saturday's only Kon-X Anglesey League tie, Pentraeth Reserves held Bodorgan to a 3-3 draw at home.

Justin Gallagher's side have been on a barren run of late but finally put a stop to the rot thanks to goals from Geraint Jones, Marc Jones and John Morton.

Bodorgan's goals were scored by Luke Allaway, Aaron Jones and Gerwyn Williams.
