HOLYHEAD Town are now within touching distance of the Gwynedd League title after a resounding 4-0 home win over Menai Bridge Tigers.

The Harbourmen moved six clear of Llanystumdwy having played a game more, and the fancied side are also hold a seven point advantage over Bontnewydd who have two games to spare.

Prolific marksman Asa Thomas wasted no time in making an impact on proceedings and opened the scoring after just ten minutes with a typically composed finish.

After the break saw the hosts’ double their tally on 51 minutes when another neat passage of play resulted in Tom Roberts converting an opportunity, and they all-but wrapped up the points soon after when Sion Davies added a third on the hour mark.

The rampant home side capped off another scintillating display on 75 minutes when Mike Edwards rounded off the scoring following a period of sustained pressure to keep them in pole position for the championship.

Waunfawr turned in an encouraging display to come away with a 3-2 home victory over Llangoed.

Sion Roberts’ efforts on 22 and 54 minutes gave the hosts a two-goal cushion, before Charlie McKenna reduced the arrears after 60 with a superb strike.

The home side restored their cushion on 75 minutes through Dylan Huws, and despite Mathew Roberts ensuring a nervy end to proceedings on 77 they managed to hold on for the triumph.
