HOLYHEAD Town moved top of the Gwynedd League standings with an emphatic 4-0 success at title rivals Bro Goronwy.

The Harbourmen produced one of their best performances of the campaign to move three points clear at the summit, although Bro do have a game in hand that will see them move level once again with a win.

A tense opening was turned on its head on 38 minutes when Jordan Murphy found the net, and the visitors doubled their advantage on 68 when Shaun Davies finished well.

The home side threw caution to the wind in a bid to get back into the game, but they were left exposed on 87 minutes and the prolific Asa Thomas took full advantage to seal the victory, and Davies fired in his second of the afternoon on 89 to put the exclamation point on proceedings.

Llanystumdwy moved up to fourth spot thanks to a 3-0 home triumph over Talysarn Celts, with a Sion Parry brace doing the majority of the damage.

There was a shock in the Bob Owen Shield as Bontnewydd were downed 2-1 at home by Beaumaris Town thanks to a late Ben Roberts strike, while Waunfawr also progressed to the next round as two goals from Ioan Gwynedd gave them a 2-1 success at Menai Bridge Tigers.

Nefyn United reached the Gwynedd Shield final thanks to a thrilling 3-2 extra-time win over Llangoed, with an Iwan Jones strike on 119 minutes enough to separate the two sides, while Gwalchmai progressed in the Junior Cup after a 2-1 victory over Llansannan in the fourth round stage.
