Llandegfan Football Club picked up their first win since September with an impressive 6-2 victory against Pentraeth Reserves.

The match, a Bwlch Car Boot Trophy play-off tie to decide who progressed to the quarter finals of the tournament, was a real treat for the neutral.

Justin Gallagher's Reserves' side took the lead within the first ten minutes when Danny Roberts fired home with a great finish. Midfielder Ashley Jones swiftly equalised for the home side.

Veteran goalkeeper Hywel "Monk" Hughes then gave Llandegfan the lead from the penalty spot but Pentraeth were back in it just moments later when Dyfed Alston poked home from a corner.

An injury to goalkeeper Barry Walker meant that an outfielder had to play in net for Pentraeth for the rest of the encounter and Llandegfan capitalised on this.

Player-manager Jordan Love put the home side 3-2 up just before half time with a sensational lob from 35 yards out.

Early on in the second half, in-form forward Ryan Hughes broke free of the Pentraeth defence to slot home and give Llandeg a two-goal lead. Soon after, the home side broke again with Hughes who squared for Love to bag his brace.

They saved the best till last however as Hughes found space in behind the defence once again before delightfully chipping the goal over the advancing goalkeeper to complete the 6-2 score line.

After the match, Jordan Love was full of praise for his team-mates.

"Today we have proved that we have what it takes to win matches.

"The feeling of winning for me as manager has been overwhelming. With each game we are growing as a team and I am proud to be part of this squad who want to improve alongside one another."

Llandegfan will now take on Caergybi in the quarter finals of the Bwlch Car Boot Trophy.

Elsewhere on Saturday afternoon, Valley's poor run against Bryngwran Bulls continued as the latter beat them 2-0 to reach the final of the Lucas Oil Cup.

The Bulls have now beaten Valley four times this season. Goals from Nathan Lewis and top scorer James Ryan did the damage in this encounter.

Mynydd Tigers will be joining them in the final after they blew Bodorgan away with a 7-0 win on Saturday afternoon.

A hat-trick each from Herbie Hofsteede and Ciaran O'Brady and a solo strike from Kieron Bullock saw the youthful side progress to the final.

Finally, in the only Kon-X Anglesey League fixture of the weekend, Arriva Bangor came away with a 4-0 win against Llangoed Reserves.

Kevin Jones' side claimed all three points thanks to a Liam Roberts goal and yet another hat-trick from the prolific Scott Hughes, who now has 34 goals this season.
