THE FIRST local football fixtures of 2018 saw the Kon-X Anglesey League teams competing in several domestic competitions.

In the Lucas Oil Cup, Valley beat rivals Caergybi 5-0. Justin Williams grabbed his 20th goal of the season before Ryan Hall hit four after coming on from the bench.

Meanwhile, Bodorgan beat Llangoed & District Reserves 5-4 in a nine goal thriller. An own goal, alongside goals from Darragh Byrne (2), Luke Allaway and Danny Connolly completed the scoring for Bodorgan, whilst Arwyn Morris (2), Robin Morris and Phil Owen scored for Llangoed Reserves.

Arriva Bangor came crashing out of the prestigious NWCFA Cup with a 5-2 loss to a strong Rhuddlan Town side at Beach Road. Kevin Jones' side had gone down to ten men in the first half and had found themselves 3-0 down at the break thanks to goals from Corey Taylor and Andy Booker (2). A spirited fightback in the second half saw Scott Hughes and Liam Roberts pull a goal each back for Arriva, but two more from Rhuddlan's Booker was enough to kill the match off and see the Vale of Clwyd & Conwy League side progress to the next round.

Bryngwran Bulls came away 2-1 winners in the only league game of the weekend, beating Pentraeth Reserves 2-1. The Bulls moved to the top of the table as Tony Meyer put them in front and a James Ryan penalty doubled their advantage. They survived a scare late on however as the Reserves pulled one back via a penalty on 85 mins through Liam Owen before another was saved by Gwynfor Williams in the dying moments of the match.

Llandegfan's match against Mynydd Tigers was postponed and will be played at another time.
