HOLYHEAD Hotspur manager Darren Garmey has wasted no time in improving the squad with two high-profile signatures.

The Holy Islanders announced that goalkeeper Carl Jones and forward Jamie Roberts have agreed to join the club after spells at Prestatyn Town and Conwy Borough respectively.

Jones was a mainstay for the Seasiders in their JD Welsh Premier League campaign that ended in relegation, and his arrival instantly offsets the loss of talented stopper Paul Pritchard, who announced he would not be returning to The New Stadium.

He is a commanding presence within the box that is a good communicator, and boasts plenty of experience both in the top flight and the Huws Gray Alliance.

The experienced Roberts played a key role in the Tangerines’ treble winning campaign that saw them come away with the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One title, in addition to the FAW Trophy and Cookson Cup.

This is the start of what is sure to be a busy summer of activity for Garmey, who will be looking to bring in his own style of player as he continues the club’s ethos of selecting the best young talented from across the region.
