HOLYHEAD Hotspur continued their concerning run of recent form with a 5-0 home hammering at the hands of Airbus Broughton.

The Holy Islanders now find themselves in 11th spot in the Huws Gray Alliance standings after another lacklustre display, with Campbell Harrison’s side looking to end their dismal run when they are next in action on April 11 against basement dwellers Llandudno Junction.

The Wingmakers made an impressive start to the game and took the lead on seven minutes when Leo Riley finished off a neat passage of play to open the scoring, and they managed to double their tally on 31 through a well-taken strike from Ryan Edwards.

After the break saw the visitors impose themselves further on proceedings, and this brought with it a crucial third goal on 53 minutes when Nathan Quirk found the net following an extended period of possession.

Things got even worse for the beleaguered home side late on when James Hooper added a fourth on 82 minutes, and the same play was on hand to round off the scoring and complete the rout in stoppage time to put the exclamation point on proceedings.

Harrison’s side have now won just once in six contests in what was a season that promised much from a talented group of players, but they have the perfect opportunity to put things right against a Junction side that sit bottom and have yet to win a league game.
