HALF centuries from Bryn Hughes and Martin Roberts gave Bodedern a morale-boosting eight-wicket success at Marchwiel and Wrexham.

The visitors restricted their North Wales Cricket League Division Two rivals to 133 all out from 39 overs, with Danny Williams producing a mesmerising spell to come away with a five-wicket haul at the expense of just 14 runs.

He was ably assisted at the other end by Hughes, who claimed 2-21, while Sam Shoemark top scored for the home side with a stylish 45 from 63 deliveries.

A standout partnership from Hughes and Roberts ensured the away side reached their required target in impressive fashion, with the former stumped off an Anthony Morris strike after making a superb 51.

Wicketkeeper Roberts performed even better to end the day unbeaten on 58, with Blake Thomas also seeing out the innings on 12 not out to give Bod a much-need victory after 31 overs at the crease.

Nathan Evans’ side will look to take this positive momentum into next Saturday’s clash with Corwen at their Presaddfedd Estate ground.

Things would be looking rosier for the side had they not had points deducted after conceding two league games earlier on in the season, and they sit second from bottom in the standings as a result.
