DOLGELLAU slipped to fifth in the North Wales Cricket League Division One standings after a four-wicket home reverse to Llay Welfare.
The home side had plenty of batsmen made starts but each were unable to turn this into a significant score, with Sion Francis (25), Roberts Lee (24) and Mark Edmunsun the only three to make it into the twenties.
Other double figure scores came courtesy of Gareth Lanagan (14), Greg Smithies (10) and Robbie Humphreys (13), with Tom Parry helping himself to four wickets for the loss of 22 runs as the hosts finished on 161 all out.
A sensational half century from Jacob Roberts ensured the visitors reached their target with minimal fuss, with the opener demonstrating his talent before he was stumped by Humphreys off a Sam Williams delivery on 53.
He was assisted at the other end of the crease wicketkeeper John Lloyd, who finished a fine innings unbeaten on 47, while David Wright recorded a knock of 22 not out as the away side reached their required total for the loss of five wickets after 41 overs of play.
Phil Leeds’ side face another stern test of their credential when they are next in action on May 26 in their home clash with title hopefuls Mochdre.
