BODEDERN took the field for the first time this season and secured a four-wicket home triumph over North Wales Cricket League Division Two rivals Ruthin.

The visitors made an indifferent start to their time at the crease when skipper Duncan Roberts was skittled by Bryn Hughes on eight, while Sion Hughes (0), William Jones (12) and Oliver Gray were also out cheaply when more was expected.

Their resistance came in the form of opening batsman Rhodri Edwards, who produced an innings of genuine quality before he was caught off a Matthew Jackson delivery after contributing 56.

Matty Duckworth also managed a promising 20 from his time in the middle, while Jackson was the pick of the home bowlers with figures of 3-19 as the away side ended their 45 overs on 127-7.

The home run chase began poorly thanks to disappointing knocks from Hughes (11), Danial Williams (0), Blake Thomas (4) and wicketkeeper Dewi Hood (10), but they managed to get themselves over the line thanks in no small part to the 31 made by opener Jackson.

He was aided considerably at the other end by skipper Jordan Taylor, who ended the day unbeaten on 37 as they reached their target for the loss of six wickets after 39 overs of play.

Taylor’s men go in search of back-to-back successes on Saturday when they travel to Carmel and District.
