A STUNNING unbeaten century from David Winter got Bangor back winning ways with a 275-run home success over Hawarden Park.

The North Wales Cricket League Premier Division champions bounced back on Bank Holiday Monday after their weekend disappointment at Menai Bridge, and the title hopefuls will look to carry this momentum into their home clash with newly promoted Pwllheli on Saturday.

The home side made a dominant start to their time at the crease thanks to an opening stand of 136 for the first wicket before Sion Evans was clean bowled by David Hughes on 36.

Winter proved to be a more resolute presence and was the standout performer on the day, hitting no fewer than 20 boundaries on his way to a sensational 175 not out from just 158 deliveries.

He was aided at the other end by Nadeem Rehman, who also demonstrated his class with a 12-boundary 83 from 68 balls, which ensured the hosts finished an outstanding innings on 317-2.

The visiting run chase got off to the worst possible start when openers Jared Bennett and David Hughes were both ousted by Matt Kelly and Waleed Idrees for a pair of ducks, while Kelly also despatched the dangerous duo of Danny Reid (5) and skipper Jo Forde (0) to end with figures of 3-17.

Craig Wilson provided some resistance with an unbeaten 23, but Idrees virtually guaranteed victory for the champions by decimating the middle order of Phil Hankin (0), Rachel Warrenger (0) and Laura Wilson on his way to 4-12 from his six-over spell.

Robbie Marshall’s sensational run out of Ian Martin on one was another notable highlight, while Gareth Edwards took two lower-order wickets for the loss of just one run as the away side managed just 42 all out in reply.
