BETHESDA continued their excellent start to the North Wales Cricket League Division One season with a 27-run triumph at Pontblyddyn.

The table toppers managed to recover from a poor start after losing Carwyn Williams (0), Jez Shea 95) and Matthew Harrington (0) early on, but a stunning knock from wicketkeeper Nicholas Parry got the visitors back on track.

Parry was clean bowled by Rhys Jones after making a stylish 51 during a critical stage of the innings, but no other Pesda batsman made it into double figures as they were all out for 118 all out from 39 overs.

Jones was the pick of the home bowlers with figures of 4-40, with James Birch helping himself to three wickets for the loss of 14 runs.

The away side got off to a fantastic start in the field when Williams removed both Ben Mason (11) and George Forgrave (0), and Gareth Jones also contributed early on with the scalps of Glenn Chambers (7) and James Hughes (4).

Dangerous number three Alistair Roberts made just three before he was despatched by Harrington, and the same bowler also took out Richard Davies (0) and James Griffiths (11) to end an 11-over spell on 3-19.

Another to make an impact was Richard Lee Williams, who dismissed Birch (25) and Chris Moss (11) during the dangerous closing stages as the home side fell short with 91.

Jonathan Williams’ side enjoy a 15-point cushion at the summit ahead of their home clash with Mold on Saturday.
