BETHESDA head the early North Wales Cricket League Division One standings after an eye-catching 123-run home win over Llanrwst.

The Rwsters made a positive start to their time in the field thanks to a stunning spell from opening bowler Alwyn Williams, who managed to take the coveted scalps of Jez Shea (13), Matthew Harrington (10) and wicketkeeper Nick Parry (2) to end his spell on 3-50.

Things then went the way of the hosts' thanks to a sublime partnership from Carwyn Williams and Ioan Roberts, who put on 154 for the fourth wicket before the latter was caught off a Lee Thomas delivery on 80.

Williams proved to be more resolute and was there from start-to-finish as he ended unbeaten on 111 to give Pesda 248-5 from their allotted 50 overs.

The visitors run chase got off to an indifferent start when the opening pair of Trefor Williams and Joseph Guy were dismissed by Kevin Evans on 20 and five, but the duo of skipper Aled Hughes and Aron Hughes produced positive knocks until they were ousted on 43 and 24 by Gareth Edwards.

Bowler Sean Buchanan had a huge say in proceedings late on to take the wickets of Jack Hughes (0), Gaz Jones (1) and Thomas (0) to end on 3-14, and this was a blow the Rwsters could not recover from as they made 125 in reply.

Pesda go in search of a third consecutive win this Saturday when they travel to Pontblyddyn.
