CAERNARFON Town have officially confirmed that their planned Evening with Paul Gascoigne has been postponed.

Following a joint meeting on Tuesday, April 3, a statement was released which also revealed that the club is in discussions with the England icon’s agent regarding a possible date in October or November for those that had already purchased tickets, with the Cofis hopeful of making an announcement in the coming days.

The fundraising event, which was scheduled for May 18, has been put back after the club’s former commercial director Tris Lee failed to pay the deposit to Gascoigne’s representatives to confirm his attendance for the night.

The Huws Gray Alliance side have now passed the matter on to North Wales Police who will be investigating the incident further.

A club spokesman, said: “Following recent speculation in the media regarding the Evening with Paul Gascoigne that had been planned by the club’s former commercial manager, Tristram Lee, the club announced that money due to Mr Gascoigne’s agent from ticket sales had not been passed on and therefore the club has little choice at this stage but to postpone the evening.

“The club terminated Mr Lee’s contract in January and, following an internal investigation into the speculation regarding the Paul Gascoigne evening, the club passed the matter on to the police, who we understand are investigating the matter.

“We are determined to ensure that everyone who has bought a ticket will still get the opportunity to spend an evening with Gazza, and the decision has been made to reschedule the event.

“A date in October or November is a possibility and discussions have already begun with Mr Gascoigne’s agent.

“Further news will be announced as soon as the date has been confirmed and we wish to let all those who have already bought tickets for the event know that your tickets will be honoured on the rescheduled date.

“We will announce further news about the rescheduled event as soon as we finalise arrangements, which we hope will be in the next few days.”
