CAERNARFON Town boss Sean Eardley dedicated his side’s 8-0 victory at FC Queens Park to club captain Nathan Craig.

The Canaries moved one step closer to the title with a resounding success despite missing their in-form skipper, who pulled out of the contest due to a family matter, and they are now four points clear ahead of their crucial home clash with rivals Guilsfield on Saturday (2.30pm).

Eardley, said: “Very happy to play competitively again but nobody can do anything about it, the lads have been fantastic in training and 8-0 you cannot complain.

“I have a lot of respect for Martin (Ford) and they are a spirited group of players, we had time on the ball but were a bit sloppy in the first 20 minutes and Ramsey’s save was the turning point.

“The players were relentless and we scored some really good goals as well which was pleasing. Jay (Crowther) was excellent in his first game and chipped in with a couple of goals and we were dealt some bad news before the game with Nathan (Craig) and I would like to dedicate this win to our club captain and his family during this difficult time.

“Everyone knows what you get with Jamie (Breese) and he was absolutely outstanding and thoroughly deserving of his hat-trick, and Joe (Williams) was fantastic too on his birthday.

“We have got eight games left and the Cofi Army are going to play a huge part in any success we have, and I thought they were absolutely outstanding today.”

The visitors went into the break with a comfortable advantage after a nervy opening thanks to efforts from Rhys Roberts, Breese and Crowther, and this same pattern of play continued after the interval as striker Breese added two more to complete his treble.

Midfielder Gareth Evans also chipped in with a brace during the route, and Crowther netted his second of the afternoon to cap off a memorable debut.
