CAERNARFON Town goalkeeper Alex Ramsay rescued a point for his side as they drew 1-1 at home with Rhyl.

The talented stopper netted a stoppage time leveller to claim a share of the spoils in dramatic fashion, and the Huws Gray Alliance leaders enjoy a four-point cushion over Holywell Town ahead of their tricky trip to Flint Town United on Saturday (2.30pm).

Manager Sean Eardley, said: “It was written in the stars for Rambo and I am delighted for him.

“Rhyl came with a game plan and made it difficult, especially when they went ahead with a good finish. We spoke about their threat and they managed to get in.

“After 15-20 minutes after they wanted to protect their lead and sat in which forced us to play through central areas. I asked the lads to pick up the tempo and in the second half you saw our never say die attitude. I’m happy with a point considering everything against a very good side.

“It is a message to the league that if you go ahead we will go to the whistle and to come away with another point and considering we have three missing it shows the togetherness and spirit within the squad.

“A lot of things have happened in house in recent weeks but I am thankful Rambo will be here until end of the season and important fans get behind him and the noise they made were tremendous.”

The away side drew first blood and took the lead on five minutes following a strong start, with Alun Webb continuing his sensational form since re-joining the club with a fierce drive past Ramsay.

It was backs to the wall for the most part for the remainder of the contest as the Canaries went in search of a leveller, but a much-improved back-line which featured new signing Will Bell managed to thwart their advances until the first minute of stoppage time when Ramsay came up for a last gasp corner and managed to prod home from close range to secure a share of the spoils.
