THREE Bangor City stars have been shortlisted for a prestigious award after memorable campaigns.

The Citizens trio of Dean Rittenberg, Matthew Hall and Luke Wall are part of a four-man shortlist for the JD Welsh Premier League Young Player of the Year accolade as the finalists were announced on Tuesday, May 22.

They form 75 per cent of the potential winners, with Tom Hall from The New Saints of Oswestry Town the other person selected.

Goalkeeper Hall was at the top of his game for manager Kevin Nicholson throughout their highly successful top-flight campaign, where he emerged as one of the standout players at his position thanks to a number of exceptional performances.

Former Blackburn Rovers youth product Rittenberg is another than shone brightly for the eventual runners-up, giving City a real attacking threat that is sure to have attracted the attention from a host of renowned clubs following the Citizens’ relegation to the Huws Gray Alliance.

Rounding off the City selections is Wall, who demonstrated his incredible workrate and vision that was the cornerstone of their achievements this term.

The pacey winger was a devastating threat going forward with a superb final ball, and he is another that came through the ranks at Rovers before ending up at the VSM Stadium.

The winner of the award will be announced at the WPL’s lavish End of Season ceremony on Saturday, June 2 at the Cliff Hotel in Gwbert.
