A NUMBER of Bangor City Academy graduates have signed their first professional contracts with the club.

The Citizens announced the news on Thursday, May 17, with the gifted four looking to firmly establish themselves in the senior squad following the relegation to the Huws Gray Alliance.

Leon Jones and Gethin Thomas have put pen to paper at the VSM Stadium, while Alex Boss and Sam Ashworth have also inked deals with City after thriving at the club from an early age.

Boss, in particular, has shown enormous promise and has plenty of second tier experience having been part of the Holyhead Hotspur side last term.

The foursome join Guto Williams, Cai Owen and Sam Jones as Academy products that have been awarded pro deals, and this is further indication of the fantastic work being done within the Citizens’ youth system in recent years.

The club also announced a series of pre-season friendlies as they gear up for life in the HGA after their FAW Domestic Licence appeal was rejected.

They will open their friendly fixtures with a trip to Penycae on Saturday, July 14, and City will also travel to Colwyn Bay and Hyde United as part of their preparations for the new season.

More signings are set to be confirmed this week (Wednesday) as a huge summer of change continues after the departure of manager Kevin Nicholson, assistant Gary Taylor-Fletcher and defender Danny Holmes.
