BANGOR City have cancelled a press conference scheduled for tomorrow (Thursday) regarding the appointment of a new manager.

The Citizens revealed in a statement that the presentation of the new management team has been put back until Wednesday, June 23 at the VSM Stadium following the departures of manager Kevin Nicholson and assistant Gary Taylor-Fletcher.

The club have now also accepted the fate of relegation to the Huws Gray Alliance after the exploring the possibility of taking matters to the High Court and “exhausting every avenue” to get the decision overturned.

A club spokesman, said: “After seeking legal advice from barristers' counsel and solicitors, the board of directors at Bangor City FC can confirm that there was no guarantee that the case would be successful.

“With the financial pressure involved to pursue this legal matter, it would leave the club in a perilous position and could have significant implications on the immediate return to the Welsh Premier League.

“A new accounts team have been appointed to ensure that this situation never arises again and that the tier one licence will be obtained next season.”

City have indicated that the unannounced management team will be given a budget to “compete at the top of the Cymru Alliance as well as compete strongly in all cup competitions”.

The Football Association of Wales have yet to inform the club whether or not they can compete in the lucrative Iron Bru Cup following their second-placed finish, with a decision expected early next month.

They will also miss out on the wealth that comes with qualifying for Europe after failing with their UEFA Licence, and their demotion has also put the futures of a number of senior squad members in doubt after losing Nicholson, Taylor-Fletcher and defender Danny Holmes this week.
