BANGOR City manager Kevin Nicholson and assistant Gary Taylor-Fletcher will leave the club when their respective contracts expire.

The backroom team announced their decision following the Citizens’ relegation from the JD Welsh Premier League due to their FAW Domestic Licence appeal rejection, despite guiding them to a second placed finish and a return to European football that they can no longer fulfil.

Director of Football Stephen Vaughan Junior, said: "I would like to thank both Kev and Gary for all their hard work since being at the club.

“We achieved the goals we set out and they leave the club knowing we were last season the second-best team in the WPL.

“Together we had built an excellent squad and have made great progress over a short period of time.

“With the news at the end of the season that we would not be granted a tier 1 WPL licence for 2018-2019 it was agreed mutually that we would part our ways."

City have moved swiftly to appoint their successors, and a press conference has been called for Thursday, May 17 where the new manager will be revealed.

Nicholson’s contract runs out on May 22, while Taylor-Fletcher will part ways with the club on June 30.

The departing manager released a statement thanking everyone associated with the Citizens for the support he received after joining in May last year.

He said: “I would like to thank Bangor City FC for giving me the chance to manage and coach the team.

“I am extremely proud of our achievements this season. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with the staff, the players and everyone at the club and I wish them all the best for the future.

“I will also never forget the level of support I personally had from the Bangor fans and I thank them for how they welcomed me to the club.

“I look forward to the future and the next challenge.”
