BANGOR City have vowed to fight for their JD Welsh Premier League future after their FAW Domestic Licence appeal was rejected.

In a statement issued by the Citizens on Saturday, April 28, they stated “we have to do everything physically possible to give our fantastic fans what they deserve as well as add to the amazing history and success”, and are now set to challenge the decision by the governing body.

This is further significant with City finishing second in the top flight standings after moving above Connah’s Quay on the final day, which saw them achieve a European place which, at the present moment, they are going to relinquish.

A fan forum is scheduled to take place at Nantporth on Monday, where the full details will be disclosed to the supporters in attendance.

A City spokesman, said: “As a club we will be doing everything we can to get this decision overturned.

“We are engaging legal representation to challenge the decision by FAW over an auditor’s opinion which could ultimately cost the Football Club hundreds of thousands of pounds.

“The club successfully qualifying for the Europa Cup qualification stage last season with a 4th place league finish and a playoff win. This season the club has been even more successful on the pitch finishing second behind TNS which would mean we would automatically qualify for the Europa Cup Qualifying stage. The best league finish for six years and another step closer to becoming league champions.

“We have to do everything physically possible to give our fantastic fans what they deserve as well as add to the amazing history and success”.

“The reasons for the failed licence were; Annual Financial Statements and Future Financial Information, and we as a club feel that we have a strong case to take this further.

“We encourage as many supporters to come to the open fans forum on Monday evening at the club to discuss in greater detail what has happened and the direction of the club.”

The club also confirmed that Tuesday’s friendly with Liverpool U23s is still going ahead as planned.
