BANGOR City manager Kevin Nicholson has challenged his side to put their JD Welsh Cup setback behind them and achieve European qualification.

The Citizens know that if they win their remaining three fixtures then they will be guaranteed a second placed finish in what is Nicholson’s first full season in management.

However, they need to put the crushing 6-1 semi-final reverse to one-side ahead of their next clash against old rivals Connah’s Quay Nomads on Saturday, and a victory on their travels would see City move three points clear of Andy Morrison’s men with two games remaining.

Nicholson, said: “We have come a long way this season.

“The focus now is on the final three matches and our targets remain the same.

“We have devoted this week to preparing fully for the next game against Connah’s Quay, and the players know that winning our next three games will ensure a second placed finish and a return to European football.

“We will be giving our all to make this happen.”

City have enjoyed a fine season on the whole ad have already surpassed last season’s JD Welsh Premier League total, but the club now faces an uncertain end to the campaign due to their FAW Domestic Licence refusal, which they are in the process of appealing.

Following their final encounter with the Nomads this season, the Citizens entertain Cefn Druids in their last home contest before travelling to Bala Town, who also harbour hopes of a top-two finish.
