BANGOR City have been refused their FAW Tier 1 and UEFA Licences for the 2018/19 season.

The Citizens received the news prior to their JD Welsh Cup defeat to Connah’s Quay Nomads, who were also denied the licences.

City officials plan to discuss their refusal with representatives from the governing body before appealing the decision, which asses Youth and Coaching, Infrastructure, legal matters, Personnel Administration and Financial and Codes of Practice.

A club statement, said: “Following the licence refusal yesterday, the club will review the decision and await confirmation off the Football Association of Wales of where the club has failed to meet the licence requirements.

“We will then follow the appeals process to ensure we achieve the licences.”

There was better news for promotion hopefuls Caernarfon Town, who managed to secure their domestic licence for the second consecutive year, meaning the Huws Gray Alliance leaders will be promoted to the JD Welsh Premier League should they see out the remainder of the season successfully.

A statement from the Cofis, said: “Achieving the licence takes a lot of hard work and we wish to thank everyone who has helped us reach such an important goal for the club.

“From the Academy to the Ladies team, and all the many volunteers who have provided their expertise and support across numerus different areas, this has been a true example of our ‘One Club’ ethos.

“It has been a long-held target of ours to return to the Welsh Premier League and, with the Domestic Licence in place, we will be concentrating all our efforts over the course of the next three weeks into supporting Sean Eardley and his first team squad in their attempts to win the Cymru Alliance League and gain promotion.”
