BANGOR City boss Kevin Nicholson has urged his side to put in a performance that matches their ability when they travel to Cardiff Met on Sunday (2.30pm).

The Citizens will look to get their hopes of a top-two finish back on track following their defeat at Bala Town last time out, which has left them in fourth spot and one behind the Lakesiders with six games of the JD Welsh Premier League season remaining.

Nicholson welcomed the break to regroup his squad, and they will need to be at their best against a dangerous Students’ side, who have established themselves as a top-flight force once again this term and sit one place below City in the standings.

He said: “The break has given everyone involved an opportunity to rest and recuperate, physically and mentally - which is important.

“The days we have been in training the players have worked hard and well but they've also had a chance to clear their heads in preparation for the games ahead of us.

“Moving forward, the focus is on stepping-up our performance levels to enable us to take more points in the second half of Phase Two.

“We will concentrate on producing a performance on Sunday that matches our capabilities as a group. This will give us the best chance of getting the result we want.”

Following Sunday’s clash, the Citizens face a tough run-in that includes two games against Connah’s Quay Nomads, champions-elect The New Saints of Oswestry Town, Cefn Druids and Bala Town in their quest for a return to European football.
