BANGOR City manager Kevin Nicholson said there will be no surprises ahead of their JD Welsh Cup qualifier against Connah’s Quay.

The Citizens’ boss, who has been nominated for the JD Welsh Premier League Manager of the Month for February, will see his side lock horns with the Nomads once again for a place in the final, with Andy Morrison’s men booking their place in the final four with a shock success over The New Saints of Oswestry Town.

The winner will go into the showcase as firm favourite, with Newtown and Aberystwyth Town contesting the other semi-final.

Nicholson, said: “Having already played Connah's Quay four times this season, we know everything about them and they know everything about us, so there will be no surprises in that respect.

“We have a very strong record against them so far this season, however, in a semi-final at a neutral venue it will be about who is the best team on the day.

“We are delighted to have got through to this stage so we will embrace the game and the opportunity to reach a final.”

City’s immediate attention turns to a pivotal JD Welsh Premier League clash at European rivals Bala Town on Friday, with the in-form side looking to boost their hopes of a second placed finish and secure their seventh win in eight outings.

“Every game from now until the end of the season is of high importance and significance. Bala are a strong team who will provide us with a real test,” added Nicholson.

“They are in good form but we are in good form too heading into the game with five wins from our last six matches and have momentum.

“It will be another game where we will need to find a way to win and pick up what would be another valuable three points.”
