BANGOR City manager Kevin Nicholson praised his side’s performance as they booked their place in the JD Welsh Cup’s final four at the expense of Penydarren BGC.

The Citizens produced a professional performance to emerge from the tie with minimal fuss, and the professionalism shown by his side clearly pleased the City boss.

Nicholson, said: “We are delighted with the win and the way we went about it. We are the first team through and I am sure we are going to enjoy the occasion when it comes around.

“I have to give full credit to Penydarren today, they gave a good account of themselves right until the end and we had to make sure we were at it for the whole 90 minutes. Even when we went five and six ahead they still kept going to they can be very proud of their performance.

“We played some good stuff at times and took our goals well. Especially delighted for Luke (Wall) and Yves (Zama) of course for their hat-tricks “I would like to thank all the ground staff and volunteers that came down on Saturday to make sure the pitch was playable, which I think that both teams appreciated. It was fantastic that the game went ahead and as I said, delighted to have won it the way we have done.

“Attention now turns to what is sure to be a difficult and very important game at Bala Town on Friday. Obviously, the lads who played in this tie did tremendously well and if we need them to play I think they definitely could.

“We do have a few niggles with some of the players so they will be assessed this week and hopefully be back as soon as possible.”
