BANGOR City have confirmed that James Demetrious has signed for Barry Town United.

The former Nottingham Forest and Swansea City product joined the Citizens in October and made an immediate impact by scoring on his debut as a second half substitute in the 1-0 win at Bala Town.

The 22-year old Australian-born forward made a total of four (plus seven substitute) appearances for Kevin Nicholson’s side in the JD Welsh Premier League, but was deemed surplus to requirements following the arrivals of Yves Zama and Joel Bembo-Leta.

He also made one appearance in the JD Welsh Cup tie against Cwmamman United, contributing one of City’s goals in the 4-3 win.

Demetriou now moves on to South Wales and a United side that have exceeded all expectations so far this season, and they currently lie in ninth spot and 12 points above the drop zone ahead of their opening Phase Two contest at home to Aberystwyth Town on Saturday.

A club spokesman, said: “Bangor City FC wishes James the best of luck in his new venture and thanks him for his services to the club. Diolch, James.”
