TWTHILL are the Gwynedd Women's Superleague champions again.


A 5-1 away win over the Bull Bethesda in their penultimate match of the season sees the Caernarfon girls secure the title for the fourth successive season.

Marcia Roberts with an 18.56 effort was their leading average scorer in this eleventh w
in of the season for the team, with Rhian Williams 16.70, Jacqueline Leggatt 16.16, Mona Thomas 15.30 and Rhian Brownley adding in the other victories for the celebrating side.

Iona Robertson saved the whitewash for the Bull with a 3-1 win over Jane Brownley in the final set.

With the top spot settled, the fight for second place goes into the final week with the nearest challengers, Cross Keys and Station Inn, tied on 47 points.

Llandudno side Cross Keys have returned to that trophy winning second spot on games won, following a 5-1 home victory over Penbont, thanks to a fine performance from Helen Jones 17.15, Dilys Doyle 16.89, Karen Reading 16.89, Fiona Evans 16.11 and Samantha Eddleston 15.66, and they will be looking to maintain those averages when they entertain the Bull in the final match.

Sharon Davis scored the single point for the Penbont.

Station Inn who failed to hold on to runners-up spot despite winning 4-2 against the Four Alls, will now be looking to do the double of the champions when travel to Caernarfon for the last game, after inflicting a 4-2 verdict against them earlier in the season.

Porthmadog team winners were Sue Davies 17.48, which included a 180, Margaret McEwan 16.56, Jacky Blanks 16.34 and Mandy Cross, with Sandie Lee 15.19 and Sharon Pritchard on the scoreboard for the travelling Four Alls side.

Michelle Williams, who will be looking to end her first campaign in the Superleague with a 100 per cent winning record when her team travel to Penbont for the final game, with 19.03 average the highest of the week, was the star of Sun Inn's 4-2 win at the Wellmans Llangefni.

Maria Dean, Sharon Benjamin and Mary Jane Fenton were the Old Colwyn outfit's other winners, with Sarah Roberts and the league's other Michelle Williams on the mark for the Social Club.

Men's Superleague

FoelasArms are the early pacemakers in the Gwynedd Men's Superleague, the Pentrefoelas side came away with a 6-2 result against Caernarfon Town Football Supporters Club in their second match of the new season after a home draw first time out.

The top match of the night at the Cofis' Oval venue was the clash of the home side evergreen John Longshaw against Ifor Davies, which was clinched in the deciding leg by visiting captain Davies with a 99 finish for an average of 23.29, after 69-year-old Longshaw had hit a couple of 180s a 15-dart leg and a 101 shot out in the opening leg of the set.

Alun Pritchard, Kevin Hampson, Warren Green, Glyn Lloyd and Clive Davies, who also recorded a 180 in his 23.86 average, were the Foelas other winners, with Carwyn Moss Jones 24.
